Free Papua Movement calls for the Australian Prime Minister to discuss the ingoing West Papuan War with the New Zealand Prime Minister and request State Members, UN Intervention
The Free Papua Movement calls upon the Australian Prime Minister Mr Anthony Albanese to raise the ongoing war in West Papua – on Australia’s doorstep – with his New Zealand counterpart during their bi-lateral meeting in Australia this coming weekend.
During recent Indonesian TNI military’s attacks on the population in the Ndugama District in their failed attempt to free New Zealand hostage Mr Phillip Mehrtens, two civilians were shot dead by Indonesian military forces including a pregnant woman.
The West Papua liberation army TPNPB-OPM responded killing 36 Indonesian troops, and capturing their weapons including 3 machine guns, 9 sniper rifles and over 3,000 rounds of ammunition. The bodies of the Indonesian troops are rapidly decomposing. The TPNPB will allow the TNI to retrieve their bodies.
The Free Papua Movement calls upon the Australian and New Zealand governments to bring this ongoing war – now in its 6th decade making it one of the longest in history – to an end by bringing to it to the attention of the United Nations Secretary-General for referral to the United Nations Security Council and International Court of Justice as required under the Charter of the United Nations.
West Papua is illegally occupied by Indonesia. UN resolution 2504 (XXIV) only “Takes note” of a report following the sham “Act of Free Choice” in 1969 where the Indonesian military hand-picked 1026 only male Papuans out of nearly 1 million people – a mere 0.1% – of the people who were forced at gunpoint to vote for Indonesia. There has never been a UN resolution recognising Indonesian sovereignty over West Papua. Indonesia’s claim to our Territory should be referred to the International Court of Justice for a legal opinion as directed by Article 37 of the UN Charter.
West Papua is at war with a fascist military dictatorship created by the Japanese Imperial Army during the Pacific War. The Papuan people fought alongside the ANZACS to prevent Japan invading Australia and New Zealand.
The OPM / Free Papua Movement therefore calls upon Australia and New Zealand to uphold United Nations resolution 2621 (XXV) Programme of action for the full implementation of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples whereby “Member states shall render all necessary moral and material assistance to the peoples of colonial Territories in their struggle to attain freedom and independence.”
The TPNPB OPM calls upon the Australian and New Zealand governments to come to our aid and send Australian and New Zealand soldiers to Papua and provide guns, ammunition, grenades, rockets, and telecommunications equipment. Indonesian government was upgraded their status of War recently then sent massive personnel fully equipped with military warfare into Ndugama. We also calling to the states member of the UN who did provide military aid to Ukraine, now time to provide same aid to the TPNPB OPM find out the way for seeking West Papuan independence.
Mr Akouboo Amatus Douw, Chairman of the OPM Diplomatic Council and Foreign Affairs says “We now call upon our World War Two comrades, Australians and New Zealanders, to come to our defence.”
